My Biggest Challenge, ever !

Linh is now doing something she has never ever done before! I gonna work out 3 times a week, don't eat candy, cakes, cupcakes, chips, cookies, chocolate or anything else that contains a lot of fat and sugar. I will also just drink water and juice to make it even more challenging. I so gonna die ! All this will last until the day I leave England on the 29. Mai. 63 whole days. God bless me, coz I'm soo doomed !

EF - Fastest way to learn a language?

Few days ago, I got a mail from a concerned friend who's gonna travel with EF to Beijing this summer. She'd read so many negative things about the EF schools that she started thinking if she'd done the right thing or not. She therefore asked me about my opinion and my experience with EF. And because the EF schools are quite popular worldwide, I thought: Why not share my thoughts with the world.

First of all: These are my opinions, thoughts and experiences, be aware that others have or can have another point of view and totally other experiences than me.

I have talked a lot with my friends here in EF and I have to admit that many of them are really disappointed and dissatisfied with EF. And I don't blame them coz for just a few month ago I was one of them. I thought EF was a waste of money. I felt I didn't learn anything, the food was horrible, the residence was dirty, the lessons were just like a playground, nothing was serious. The lectures were boring, the ilabs were just a waste of time and some of the teachers were just annoying and wannabe Nazis.

But then I thought: What am I doing ? For me having and thinking all these negative thoughts just makes this a bad time for myself and no one else. It's up to me what kind of experience I want from this, and me only. I therefore sat down, thinking. Thinking about all the positive things about my stay here and EF. And I have to admit: There are so many positive things with EF !

- Maybe I don't really feel like my language has improved, but how much can I expect? I'm a high level student which has it's limitations of how much I can learn. When you're a lower level student there is more you can learn about grammar, vocabulary etc. But when you mostly know all this, it's just one more thing to do. Practice! Practice to communicate, practice to keep an conversation, to discuss, write and so on.

- I have to admit that when I moved to Brighton, I was in hell. I came to a horrible host family where all the food was made in the microwave, the bread was 7 days over the expiry date, they wanted 15 pounds for the internet, each. More than we could afford. The only reason they had a student in their home was for the money, nothing else. But I was really unlucky. Most of my friends are really happy with their host families. Living with a host family gives you an opportunity to speak with a native speaker that can help you with your grammar, pronunciation and best of all learn colloquial vocabulary.

- I learn and see so many different cultures. This school has people from almost all over the world: Japan, China, Germany, Switzerland, France, Latin America, Scandinavia, Italy, Ukraine, Spain, South Korea, Belgium, Kuwait, etc. And in class I learn so much about their cultures, points of views and all these really interesting things. Just this in itself is a really good reason for studying abroad with EF.

- Now I have friends all over the world. If I wanna go to Argentina, I know someone. If I wanna go to Germany, I know someone. If I wanna go to Japan, where to start? I know people from all over Japan etc. And as the travel crazy girl I am, this is just perfect. I will be able to see so many countries and see things from a local citizen's perspective. So much better than being a tourist without any clue at all.

- I have made friends for life. During my stay here, I have met so many nice and friendly people. People I will never lose contact with. We have had so much fun together. Indescribable. They all will have a very special place in my heart.

There are so many positive things about EF, many neagtive too, but I personally think that the positive things outweight for the negative ones.

EF - Fastest way to learn a language? Maybe not, but a great way to get friends and an experience for life ! Especially Gerry ;P

Bounty Hunter

As many know.. I'm a film addicted. I watch film after film after film. I just love it. And my favorite place to watch them.... The Cinema. I just love watching films on a big screen. Ah. Awesome sound + big screen = The Perfect Effect ! And as the title says, yes I watched Bounty Hunter on the Big Screen today and oh my god i laughed. It's was so funny, hilarious ! But, yes it's a but. I still don't really think Aniston is a good actress. Yes, she's funny as Rachel in Friends and most of her films are funny, but still. She's not that good. Honestly. But anyway. The films was great and I really recommend it ! I really think this film is worth seeing.
